Nairobi: one night at Giraffe Manor
The journey begins at Giraffe Manor, one of Nairobi’s most recognizable properties. Its resident Rothschild’s giraffes may approach the manor during scheduled interactions, creating an unusual and memorable opening to the trip.
Wonderia’s view: Giraffe Manor is iconic, but it is also one of the itinerary’s greatest availability constraints. It should be confirmed before international flights are built around the journey.
After a long arrival from Asia or North America, one night may also feel rushed. Some travelers will benefit from an additional recovery night in Nairobi rather than moving immediately into the safari schedule.
Masai Mara: three nights at Kichwa Tembo
After flying from Nairobi Wilson Airport to the Masai Mara, travelers spend three nights at &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp.
The camp occupies a private concession adjoining the reserve, creating access to classic Mara game viewing while allowing for experiences that may be more flexible than those available exclusively inside the national reserve. Depending on the confirmed program, activities may include morning and afternoon drives, longer full-day drives, picnic meals and hot-air ballooning at additional cost.

Kichwa Tembo is not, however, an ultra-small safari camp. Couples seeking a very secluded honeymoon atmosphere may prefer a smaller Mara property, a more private room configuration or an exclusive-use vehicle.

Northern Serengeti: two nights at Klein’s Camp
The transfer from the Masai Mara to Klein’s Camp is the most demanding part of the itinerary.
The published routing involves flying from the Mara to Nairobi Wilson Airport, connecting onward to Kilimanjaro International Airport, completing Tanzanian immigration and customs, flying to Lobo Airstrip and then continuing by road to camp.
Klein’s lies on a private concession bordering the Serengeti. This allows for activities such as guided bush walks, night drives, sensitive off-road driving and wildlife viewing with fewer vehicles—experiences that are more restricted inside the national park.
Wonderia’s view: The private concession is Klein’s greatest strength. It adds variety and provides a different safari rhythm from a stay based entirely within the national park.
The real question is whether two nights justify the transfer during your chosen month. Klein’s is especially logical when the northern Serengeti and private-concession activities are central to the journey. At other times of year, these nights may be more valuable in another Serengeti region.
Serengeti: three nights Under Canvas
Travelers fly to the airstrip closest to the current seasonal position of &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas.
The camp moves through the Serengeti in an effort to anticipate the broader migration pattern. It operates as two small camps with nine tents each, creating a more immediate and intimate relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The tents include a bedroom beneath canvas, an ensuite bathroom, an outdoor bucket shower and a private veranda. Game drives may be organized as shorter morning and afternoon outings or as full-day excursions with a picnic lunch.

Serengeti Under Canvas feels fundamentally different from a permanent lodge. Its appeal lies in its seasonal positioning, small scale, time in the field and proximity to the sounds and movement of the wilderness.
That immersion is also a lifestyle choice. Travelers expecting a spa, large swimming pool, conventional tiled bathroom, extensive dining options or complete separation from nature may be happier at a permanent lodge.
The camp moves in response to seasonal migration patterns, but neither &Beyond nor Wonderia can guarantee that the herds will be beside the camp or that a river crossing will occur.

Ngorongoro: two nights at Entamanu
The final safari setting is Entamanu Ngorongoro, positioned on the northwestern rim of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The highland environment feels cooler and greener after the Serengeti plains. Experiences may include a crater-floor game drive, nature walks, birding, scenic viewpoints and quieter time around the lodge.
Wonderia’s view: Ngorongoro gives the journey a strong final contrast. The crater can provide dense wildlife viewing within a relatively contained area, while Entamanu’s setting creates a calmer conclusion to the safari.
Entamanu is a partner property rather than an &Beyond-owned lodge. The final proposal should clearly confirm the road transfer, crater schedule and vehicle arrangements.
On the final day, travelers fly from Lake Manyara to Kilimanjaro International Airport. We do not automatically recommend connecting this to a tightly timed international departure. Bush-flight schedules can change due to weather, routing or operating conditions, so an additional night near Arusha or Nairobi may be the more comfortable choice.

The compromises to understand
The cross-border travel day is demanding. Travelers primarily interested in the Serengeti may find that a Tanzania-only route offers better use of time.
Five properties in 11 nights create movement. The variety is attractive, but it also means repacking, repeated airstrip transfers and adapting to new camp routines.
Tailor-made does not automatically mean private. The itinerary may still include shared game drives, scheduled bush flights and shared transfers. Private vehicles and guides must be specifically quoted and confirmed.
